Two very similar new mid-range models join the PowerShot range. The A590 IS and A580 share a number of features, including an 8.0-megapixel CCD sensor, 4x optical zoom lens, 2.5-inch 115k LCD monitor and DIGIC III image processing. Both also have the same high-ISO motion detection system as the new IXUS 80 IS, enhanced face detection technology and automatic red-eye correction in both shooting and playback.




The A590 IS adds to this list with full manual exposure control, and of course optical image stabilisation. Both cameras go on sale in March, with the A580 priced at £139.00 and the A590 IS at £159.00.
