Refine search for Digital Cameras

With our picture now the correct size, it's time to add some text. Click on the Horizontal Type tool, and select the font (typeface) you wish to use. I've chosen a simple cursive script-type font called Brush Script Std. It's a very common font which I'm pretty sure comes as standard with Windows Vista, however you can use whatever font you like. If you don't like the ones that you have on your computer, you can find a plentiful supply of new ones available for free download here.

You'll need pretty large letters for the front of your card, so set the font size to 72pt, and select a colour that will stand out well against your photo. For mine, I'm using a bright yellow to contrast with the blue sky. Type the first line of your greeting, then de-select the type tool and move the line into position. Then re-select the type tool and add the second line of your message. This way the two lines will be on separate text layers.


You can add curvature effects to your text, to make it stand out better. When the type tool is selected, next to the text colour picker is an unlabelled button with a two headed arrow under a letter T. Click on this, and you'll see a drop-down menu of text warping options. I've used Rise here. You can adjust the degree of curvature using the sliders on the dialogue box.


To add other text effects, click on the Windows menu and select the Artwork and Effects option. This activates a palette on the right of the screen that offers a range of text effects. Most of them are pretty ghastly and inappropriate for a greeting card, but a couple are OK. I've used the Bevel effect to make the text stand out more.
