The general quality of all the tripods in our round-up was very high, so deciding a winner was very difficult. I've scored mostly on stability, ease of use, and versatility.

Comparitively speaking, the Jessops TP 323 didn't really fare very well, but it would win on a price to usability comparison. For a budget tripod, it is excellent value.

Surprisingly, not far in front of that was the Manfrotto, great features, but a great shame about the stability. The Velbon and the Slik were so close, I'm going award them equal places. If there is a difference between the two, it's that the Slik seems slightly more refined, but the Velbon is slightly more expensive. But in everyday use, there is pretty much nothing between them.

The Giottos really stands out from the crowd. Excellent stability, smooth precise controls, and very high construction quality make the MH9242 a definite winner. And stands to reason that it will dent your wallet the most too!
