The 35mm-equivalent wide angle end is good for general landscapes.

The telephoto end is equivalent to 135, a nice short telephoto and very good for portraits.
The 1/2.5" CCD produces surprisingly good contrast and dynamic range.
The colour rendition is superb in this 5cm macro shot.
