Proving that Panasonic hasn't completely abandoned the megapixel arms-race its third new camera, the FX150, joins arch-rivals Samsung and Sony in the pointless excess club with a resolution of no less than 14.7 megapixels.

To complement its rather silly maximum resolution the FX150 features an f/2.8 3.6-x zoom Leica lens with a wide-angle end equivalent to 28mm, a 2.7-inch 230k LCD monitor, Venus Engine IV image processing and, rather unexpectedly, Raw mode shooting.

Other features include an enhanced Intelligent Auto mode, with improved face detection, 11-area tracking AF, two-frames-pr-second continuous shooting at full resolution, and two-channel parallel noise reduction. Like the other new models it also sports a HD movie mode, in this case capable of shooting 1280 x 720 resolution at 24fps.

The FX150 will be available in either black or bronze. The launch price of the FX150 is £299.99 and it should be in the shops in August.
