Damn - I was interested in the LX3, and had a sinking feeling it would be pricey, but £400?!? I know it's a different market, but you can have a 400D for that money (and I do!)

I'm going to get a new compact at xmas, hopefully the FX37 will drop down to the current FX35 price by then as it was on top of my short list.

Panasonic IS The Best In The Market Now ( Non-DSlrs ) .. i hoped to see the Fz60 .. any news about it ?

No news on an FZ60 yet, but the big Photokina camera show is coming up in September, so they'll probably keep some big launch for that.

UPDATE: I've just received an email from Panasonic confirming the prices that Spider quotes above:
FX150 - £299.99
FZ28 - £329.99
LX3 - £399.99
FX37 - £249.99
I've updated the article accordingly.

Much as I find the LX3 appealing, I have difficulty considering anything without a viewfinder (small format) to really be a camera and I also think The Pope makes a good point.

Well, having said that Frank, a friend of mine lusted after the LX3 and bought one this week. He's over the moon with it! Why? It has great performance but without the bulk of a dSLR - that's what he wanted. Horses for courses.

Fair point Geoff, that your friend is delighted, but these are not horses and though the LX3 has some great attributes, , , ,It does not have a viewfinder.
Or am I the one, flogging a dead horse ?

I was keenly awaiting the arrival of the LX3 but after seeing sample images on another site it's obvious Panasonic haven't cleared up there noise problems. I did read yet on another sit that the images were fine to ISO 400. On paper it all looks good, and the convenience of having a camera around almost all the time isn't something that can be achieved with a DSLR even though at the price one wants to try.

Well after searching for images worthy of the F2 lens on this camera I found some interesting posts at flickr, comenting on the early firmware and the fact that these early pictures taken during a press tour wern't not intended to be released. It does hold hope that the release of the production LX3 will clear up the noise issues and hopefully offer images a little sharper than what we've been seeing. Oh and the specs vs price on the D90 are looking inviting.
