FinePix F100fd
It's not just new superzooms that Fuji is launching at PMA. Also joining the line-up is the FinePix F100fd, which Fuji is describing as "the ultimate ‘F Series' digital camera". It goes into the range as the new F-series flagship above the F50fd, and it certainly has an impressive specification, with a 12-megapixel 1/1.6-inch Super CCD HR VIII sensor, moving-CCD image stabilisation, an f3.3-5.1 5x zoom lens equivalent to 28-140mm and a minimum aperture of f14.4, and a 2.7-inch 230k LCD monitor.

Other high-tech features include the RP Processor III, with the enhanced dynamic range system found on the S5 Pro DSLR, and Face Detection 3.0, which Fuji claims is able to detect up to ten faces in the frame simultaneously in 0.35 seconds, at much greater angles than previous system, including profile views and faces that are upside-down.

The camera also offers full manual exposure control, 3200 ISO at full resolution, 1.7fps shooting speed at full resolution, and Infrared communication via IrSimple technology for wireless image transfer to a compatible device. The F100fd will be available from March at a price that is yet to be confirmed.
