Joining the A650 is the PowerShot A720 IS, a high-end model that will be sold exclusively through Jessops. It is based on the design of the A710 IS, but improves on that camera with the inclusion of an 8.0 megapixel sensor.

Other features are similar to the previous model, including a 6 x zoom lens with optical image stabilisation, DIGIC III with Face Detection AF/AE/FE and Red-Eye Correction in playback, a 2.5in high-res LCD, an optical viewfinder and 19 shooting modes including full manual control and Long Play VGA movies. Available accessories include a waterproof case. The PowerShot A720 IS will be available from the end of August priced at £229, exclusively at Jessops.
