A second 12-megapixel model is the PowerShot A650 IS, the new flagship of the all-purpose A-series. It's a large and an impressively-equipped camera, and feels tough and capable despite its plastic body. The overall feel and style is more like one of the previous semi-pro G-series cameras. The design features a good sized handgrip, a 6x zoom f/2.8-4.8 lens with optical image stabilisation, a 2.5-in flip-and-twist LCD monitor, and optical viewfinder and DIGIC III image processing with Face Detection AF/AE/FE and Red-Eye Correction in playback.

Like the previous two models it also offers good high-ISO performance with Auto ISO Shift to complement the image stabiliser. It has 21 shooting modes including full manual control and Long Play VGA movies, and a comprehensive list of optional accessories including a waterproof case. The PowerShot A650 IS will available from September 2007 priced at £329.
