According to this report on US tech site Electronista, Canon’s eagerly awaited replacement for the popular EOS 30D digital SLR will be launched in America on September 2nd, at a retail price of $1599.

The story was leaked by an employee of US electronics retailer Best Buy, which has already been supplied with product details in advance of the launch. According to the inside source, the new camera will feature a 10.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD display and an ISO range of 100-3200. It also gets the improved DIGIC III imaging processor, and a dust removal mechanism, which is most likely some sort of vibrating sensor filter similar to Olympus’ SSWF system. Other features include improved spot metering and a five frame per second continuous shooting speed.

Canon will be announcing its Autumn collection of new photographic products later this month, and TrustedReviews will be there, so hopefully there will be more information available then.
