As well as all the fireworks of these new high-performance models, Fuji has also announced two slightly less prestigious models, the first in the shape of the entry-level FinePix F480.

This is the little brother to the F50fd, sitting at the bottom end of the F-series, offering a similar tough metal body to its siblings but a much simpler specification. However it does have one unique feature, a useful 4x optical wide zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 28-112mm.

Other than that it offers 8-megapixel resolution, a 2.7-in 230Kp LCD monitor, ten pre-programmed scene modes and a maximum ISO of 1000.

Last, and quite possibly least as well, we have the new A920. This is a new 9.2-megapixel addition to the budget A-series. Like the other cameras in this range it has a plastic body, but it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

It features a Super CCD HR sensor and Real Photo Processor, as well as 4x optical zoom, 2.7-in 230Kp LCD monitor, 800 ISO maximum sensitivity, 10MB internal memory and a combined xD-Picture/SD card slot. It has 16 scene modes and uses 2x AA batteries for power. It is designed as a low-cost family snapshot camera.

In common with today’s other Fujifilm announcements, the F480 and A920 will be available from September, with pricing to be announced closer to the launch date.
