You may have spotted that here at TR we are big fans of Casio’s ultra slim lines of digital cameras. Cliff currently rates the S770 as the best compact in its class and these two new arrivals may raise the bar even further.

The new Exilm Zoom Z1050 (above) and Z75 (below) are 10 and seven megapixel shooters respectively with teeny dimensions (91.1x 57.2 x 24.2mm verses 95.4 x 60.6 x 19.6mm) and great portability (125g verses 122g).

Both pack enlarged 3x optical zooms, 2.6in LCDs, support for VGA video recording, anti-shake technology and support for SD/SDHC and MMC/MMC Plus cards. The ISOs aren’t the highest I’ve seen with the Z1050 maxing out at 800 and the Z75 reaching just 400 but our previous reviews have rarely found issue with Casio image quality.

The Z1050 also throws in extended battery life taking up to 370 shots on a single charge and an anti blur setting (useful during night photography) while it uses the new Exilm ‘Engine 2.0’ processing engine.

Pricing is competitive with the Z1050 coming in at £229.99 and the Z75 costing just £179.99. No release date was provided for the 10 megapixeler but with the Z75 coming in February I suspect the Z1050 won’t be far behind... which is just how we like it.
