When you buy a new digital camera what is your check list? Portability? Sure. Price? Definitely. Image Quality? Duh! But what about HSDPA and text messaging...?

Well you may not have (ever) requested these latter two (or wanted to) but Samsung believes there is an untapped market of surfers and texters out there who’ve been dying to try this out on their digital cameras. The result is the ‘VLUU i70’.

This compact seven megapixeler comes with all the usual features including 3x optical zoom, 1600 ISO and 30fps VGA recording but it also has a whopping 3in LCD to take advantage of its extra ‘unique’ dual functionality.

To be fair, both are fairly straightforward. The HSDPA enables a snapper to directly upload photography to a remote computer or website while text messaging is… err… text messaging. Being a multimedia all rounder the i70 also supports playback of MP3s and Mpeg4 video making it part digicam, part cellphone and part PMP.

No word yet on pricing or availability but expect it to be tested out first on those wacky Koreans.
