Megapixels, megapixels, megapixels… all I ever get from you guys are emails about megapixels. NO – they aren’t the be-all and end-all of photography. NO – more does not necessarily mean better quality. But YES if Kodak suddenly brings out a camera where you can get 10 of them for under £200 you can go for it…

The newly announced EasyShare V1003 (top, left) does just that planting down 10 whole megapixels for an RRP of just £199.99 which you can expect to be eroded further once it hits online retailers in March.

Elsewhere other features are all present and correct: 3x optical zoom, 2.5in LCD and 30fps VGA video along with some bonuses including an ISO setting of up to 1600, on camera panoramic photo stitching and a massive 22 shooting modes. Furthermore Kodak has included an automated touch up technology called ‘Perfect Touch’ which adjusts the brightness in the darker areas of shots to bring out more detail.

For those not hooked by the megapixel craze an 8MP version of the V1003 called the ‘V803’ (top, right) will debut in late February for just £149.99.

Finally, if even the V803 is too rich for your blood then a budget model – the C653 (above) – will appear this month for a mere £99.99. This six megapixel shooter still sports a 3x optical zoom and large 2.4in LCD, Perfect Touch technology and anti-blur mode. It won’t win any style awards but, as well all know, beauty is more than skin deep... apparently... at least I've heard it said...

Don't really remember where...
