If there is one aspect of the modern digital camera that needs improving it is that darn 3x optical zoom. Hey presto…

The Kodak EasyShare Z710 is a 7.1MPer with a cracking 10x optical zoom. This should be more than enough for trips to the beach lapdancing club bedroom window countryside, theatre and racetrack though the 2in LCD is a little squitty for viewing your tabloid worthy snaps and the lack of image stabilisation technology means a stand is almost obligatory (and destroys the chance of a quick getaway).

To appease sweaty-palmed beginners however the Z710 does offer 19 pre-programmed scene and colour modes (including ‘beach’…) and a full manual mode should appeal to more advanced users. Shots can be cropped in-camera too while the company’s well established EASYSHARE System is built in.

With an RRP of £279 I’m not so sure it ranks well alongside other Kodak 10x-ers such as the V610 but for all that headline grabbing extra reach but I’m sure the K710 will find other ways to ‘sate’ you for such an hefty outlay…
