Despite the hoo-hah created around the K5 I have to say I wasn’t particularly impressed. The addition of white LCD frames to match your Mac of Xbox 360 (see bottom pic) weren’t really shaking my world either, but one area where last year’s golden boy continues to make headway is in digital cameras.

We are big fans of both the Pro815 and NV3 at TR central and the company looks set to complete a hat trick of successes with the MS61.

Unveiled live at IFA, the MS61 is a six megapixel beauty with super high 1600 ISO and show stopping 3in, 230k widescreen LCD. The latter feature is utterly gorgeous in operation though the company has yet to confirm whether movies can be shot in this mode or simply at the more usual VGA with 30fps.

That said, I would be surprised if the MS61 didn’t fulfil most expectations because it really is a feature laden device sporting integrated MP3 and Mpeg4 playback, voice recorder and webcam functionality when connected to a PC. PictBridge and an AV out slot also made it onboard and - in keeping with the NV3 - build quality is excellent, while at 107.5 x 58.5 x 20.8mm it is compact too.

No one on stand was giving away pricing or release details, but it certainly appeared mass market ready to me. Incidentally, IFA may now be over and I’m safely back on UK soil but I’ve still plenty more stories to tell so keep watching this space.

Oh, and here are those newly white LCDs…
