Updates take many forms, some vast and far reaching, others are… um, like this.

Same fifth generation 5.1 megapixel CCD, same 2.5in sized LCD (excluding viewfinder), same 3x optical zoom, same sexy 99 x 55 x 19mm form factor and identical 130g feather light weight. Yet look into the FinePix Z2, the follow up to the ever so popular and well received Z1, and you’ll spot the screen resolution has been upped from 115,000 to 232,000 pixels.

The max ISO sensitivity has been doubled too from 800 to 1600, there’s a wider aperture range and – most crucially of all – it now also comes in white and red, as well as black and silver (that did come over as ironic, right?). The release is scheduled for November, and like its forebear it should debut around the 250 quid mark.

Not the most exciting revamp we’ve ever seen but, since the Z1 sold by the bucket load, the news is more than a little handy to those of you about to run out and buy one…

For those of you for whom it is too late, I’m sorry. Technology can be cruel.
