So Double F has thrown out some new cameras, just what are they?

The S9500 is probably king of the litter with a stonking nine megapixels, 10.7x optical zoom, slightly small (but tilting) 1.8in LCD screen and cracking 0.01 second shutter lag time.

There’s dual xD and CompactFlash memory card slots and the bonus ability of being able to shoot in RAW format. Couple this with a reported start up time of just 0.8 seconds, a 30fps video mode and (on paper at least) it sounds like Double F has created a cracking camera.

You’ll be able to find out if that is the case in September (unless we beat you to it) but, like all the cameras announced today, you’ll have to wait until closer to the time to find out the price.

Hot on the heels of the S9500 is the E900. This more compact camera also sports a ludicrously high nine megapixel capability (Double F assures us it has fixed the pixel noise problems usually associated with MP ratings this big) but, understandably, drops the zoom facility down to 4x.

Photos can be viewed via the fixed 2in LCD on the back and, once again, RAW format is supported. Start up time is a slightly lengthier, but in no way inconvenient, 1.3 seconds and the obligatory 30fps video mode does more than make up the numbers.

October is the launch month for this one, keep your eyes peeled.

Rounding off the pack is the five megapixel S5600 Zoom, which – as the name suggests – sports a cracking zoom (it’s easy this technology lark). 10x is the precise figure, which should allow for some sneaky sniper photography (just be careful with what you’re snapping).

A 1.1 second power up time should also keep you prepped and ready for action, and as for the reasoning behind an anti-shake, anti-blur mode on a 10x I don’t even want to think about (yes, I know it's perfectly logical, I'm kidding). Finally, the movie mode with the blahdy blah fps will enable you to build a stunning case for the prosecution in court

This jail sentence waiting to happen can be spied in shops from September.
