It's becoming as notorious as plastic surgery! If your wares are getting old why not firm them up? Well, it's not as drastic as some invasive techinques, but in the world of digital cameras its a procedure almost as common as liposuction.

In fact, as recently as early this morning Olympus announced the availability of a new firmware version (v1.3) for its popular E-300 digital SLR.

Version 1.3 will include the following changes:

  • Enhanced exposure metering stability: To provide more precise readings, the stability of the Digital ESP and Centre-Weighted-Average metering has been improved.
  • Button Timer: Photographers can now set the time period for how long a modified setting remains active until it reverts to the basic setting of the mode currently in use.

  • Two new underwater scene programmes: Together with the PT-E01 underwater case and its lens ports designed for the Olympus E-300, photographers will now have access to the modes "Underwater Macro" and "Underwater Wide", specifically created for underwater photography.
  • Changed start-up process for future lenses: The start-up process has been changed to support interchangeable lenses that will be released as the E-System range grows.
To download the update, open your Olympus Master software, connect your camera via USB to the computer and log onto the Internet. Choose the "Update Camera" function from the Online Service menu and the update will be initiated immediately.
