The premise behind Death Worm is suitably bizarre for a mad-cap action game. Basically, you take charge of a giant worm intent on gorging its way through pretty much everything it meets. Underground you chomp on insects, but when you leap to the surface you’ll eat anything that gets in your way including soldiers, tanks and aircraft. You control the worm using an on-screen virtual D-pad that allows you to twist and turn at speed.
Underground you’re pretty safe as you burrow your way through the earth and pick up the odd insect along the way, but when you break ground cover you're met with a barrage of enemies including tanks and airplanes intent on bringing your life to premature end. You need to destroy these in order to increase your score and earn bonuses such as added length, increased protection from attacks and more potent firepower.
It’s not the most complicated game in the world and the novelty may wear off after a while, but Death Worm’s easy controls and addictive game play make it a fun action game.
