D-Link delivers a low cost NAS appliance with a fair turn of speed and a reasonable set of features although we do have concerns over compatibility issues with some SATA hard disks.
Dave is generous to award 7 out of 10 given the unit only recognised the third disk he tried. I have also had a range of problems with the DNS-313 including failures whilst copying, lost settings and a failure to standby. The hardware looks good but this has the hallmarks of a product taken to early to market.
The first hard drive I tried had not been detected (and the tricky thing was that the nas box did nothing, did not ask for an ip, did not respond to the installer, it was a brick - hdd was (is) fine of course), the second worked, though I experienced the same problems as HaggardPete above (erroneous file transfers, suspend/standby problems). Documentation is also poor, though web interface itself is absolutely okay. My score would be 4/10.
