If DigiTimes is to be believed, Intel is bringing forward its release schedule for Clarkdale; its forthcoming 32nm CPU range. Supposedly Clarkdale CPUs will now be reaching mass production in Q4 this year, as opposed to Q1 2010 as previously suggested.

As you surely know by now, Clarkdale chips will bring together two 32nm, "Westmere" processor cores, a DDR3 memory controller and an integrated graphics chip. It's suggested that the release of Clarkdale is being brought forwards to better rival AMD's Shrike platform, which will also combine CPU, memory controller and graphics on a single die and is likely to be launched in the same timeframe. Not that Intel will admit that as being the case, even if it is.

According to DigiTimes, Intel expects 10 per cent of its OEM shipments in Q4 to be Clarkdale parts, rising to 20 per cent in Q1'10. That suggests there's already a fair amount of interest from PC vendors; hardly surprising given the performance and value these chips should offer. OEM's aren't likely to be the only interested parties, either. Self-build customers are likely to be just as interested in getting their mitts on Clarkdale chips, as they look just about perfectly suited for low power systems, such as HTPCs.

Hurry up and give us the goods, Intel!
