AMD's forthcoming Fusion platform, the first inception of which has been christened Shrike, hasn't had all that much detail revealed about it, other than that it will featured Phenom CPU cores alongside some manner of ATI graphics. According to TGDaily, though, there's more to Shrike that that, or at least so say the site's sources.

Supposedly the platform will, in addition to two Phenom cores, sport a graphics chip from ATI called the RV800 which, despite the larger number than the RV770/Radeon 4870 is a lower powered chip. Of course the fact that it's integrated into the same die as the CPU cores means we wouldn't expect anything more anyway.

TGDaily's sources are also claiming that the first Fusion chips will be fabricated on a 40nm process, outsourced (at least in part) to silicon giants TSMC. Even more interesting, the transition to 32nm is expected happen early in early 2010, not too long after Intel should make that transition itself. It'll be interesting to see what Intel's system on a chip offering will look like by the time Fusion is available.
