Many would argue that with the launch of its ‘Mini Player’ Meizu actually made the digital media player that many fanboys had long been dreaming about but the company believes you may yet be able to come up with something better…

In one of the most innovative competitions I have seen for some time Meizu is giving consumers the opportunity to design its next player which it will dub the ‘MusicCard’ – an example of its own artwork for this product can be seen above.

To enter you must first register with Meizu’s forum then the gloves are off. Designs can be submitted using flash, animated gif and jpg, along with a description of the player’s functionality and must then be emailed to karen@meizu.com with the title ‘Music Card in your heart’. The deadline for submissions is 10 February and from 16 February Meizu will post a short list of contenders onto its website for a user vote.

Prizes include three 2GB Mini Players and obviously the awesome kudos of being able to point at a product on the shelf and say ‘I Did That!”. I’d also imagine you’d become pretty hot property too…

So what are you waiting for? I’m off to sharpen my crayons right now (purple and green are my favourites…).
