Cowon X9 video review

The Cowon X9 is the latest portable MP3 and video player from the Korean audio brand. However, in some respects it feels like a step back when compared with older models. Its touchscreen is resistive, its display low-res and it doesn't have the storage to justify the bulky design. Cowon needs to get with the times, or it'll soon be game over.

Hi Thomas
We get to review a number of MP3 players and scores them comparatively with what else in on the market.
5/10 doesn't mean the product is bad. Have a look at our guide to our scoring system

The screen is awful, it's fine to look at but scrolling is a nightmare. Selecting the track you want is a nightmare. I found some Ui's that made it more bearable but I've just decided to return it. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as my J3, and in every respect I would have been very happy with the x9 apart from the screen. Such a shame. D20, M2 and X9 - why cripple such great spec'd devices with awful, unresponsive, life of their own resistive screens.
