If you have any interest in technology then Asus should be a name you're familiar with. It's best known, of course, for the Eee PC - starting with the Eee PC 701 and winding its way to more recent offerings, like the Recommended Award winning Eee PC 1008HA.

However, long before it made its name making netbooks, Asus has always been one of the largest players in the PC component industry. To this end it is offering to give away three prizes to one lucky winner.

Any good PC needs a good motherboard and the Asus P5QL-E should do the job. Based on Intel's P43 chipset, the P5QL-E can handle Core 2 Extreme processors downwards, up to 16GB DDR2 RAM in four slots and features Asus' third generation eight-phase power design. It also features Asus Express Gate, a small-footprint Linux OS that can be accessed quickly for web browsing, email and plenty else besides.

Like any other motherboard, the P5QL-E features integrated audio, but for the best experience possible Asus has also given us its Xonar Essence STX soundcard to giveaway.

This PCI Express soundcard features an integrated headphone amp, so you can get the best from your expensive headphones without external amplification. It also features Dolby Digital Live, Headphone, Virtual Speaker and Pro-Logic II technologies.


Finally we have a graphics card, the Asus ENGTX260 Matrix. This adds a custom cooler design to the nVidia GeForce GTX 260, which received a 9/10 and a Recommended Award when we reviewed it back in July. Its 'hybrid' cooler combines efficient fan cooling when gaming, but will switch to passive cooling when using 2D applications - all of which is controlled using Asus' own software control application.
