Summary

Our Score:

9

A range of general test shots are shown over the next two pages. In some cases, the full size image has been reduced for bandwidth purposes, and a crop taken from the original full resolution image has been placed below it to show the overall image quality.

----

Here's the usual detail test shot of the West Window of Exeter Cathedral, for you to compare with other cameras. See below for a full res crop. Unfortunately the 8MB images from the Z2000 are too big for our download system.

----

The level of detail recoded by the 14MP sensor is exceptionally good.

----

The wide angle lens produces no visible barrel distortion.

----

Centre sharpness is excellent.

----

Corner sharpness is also pretty good, with only a trace of chromatic aberration.

Jay - Because of its very low compression ratio, the images produced by the Z2000 at maximum quality are over our 8MB download limit. Hopefully we can get this limit increased soon.

I received the EX-Z2000 a couple of days ago. I ordered it partly based on the good review it received here and because I have been using the EX-Z400 for the past year with good results. So far I have had good results, especially in low light. I tried a few film clips but am not impressed with them because the camera's antivibration system systems to fight with me as I pan while recording. As a result the videos are jerky.
