Further options are enabled when you hook the 530 up to your mobile phone via Bluetooth. You can phone the emergency services, the AA, a local doctor or hospital, even a nearby dentist or car repair service. The preloaded speed camera information can be updated with any recent changes via your phone, too.

Less useful are the multimedia capabilities. It may come in handy that your TomTom can be an MP3 player, slideshow presenter, iPod control and document reader. But there's a good chance your phone or car stereo will have these features already. If you don't, then the GO 530 has a built-in FM transmitter, so you can tune your car stereo in and listen to your music through that - with the voice direction commands piped through as well.
Verdict
The TomTom GO 530 has so many features, it will take you some time getting to grips with even a subset of them. That makes its £200-plus price seem reasonably good value. However, you can still currently get the GO 720 Traffic (including full European maps) for £30-50 less. Sure, it's missing the useful and effective IQ Routes and Lane Guidance features, but this highlights the increased price of the new models. The TomTom GO 530 Traffic is one of the most fully featured and capable sat-navs on the market. We just wish it cost the same as its predecessor.
