Sick of sticking your GPS to your car's front window? TomTom has a solution...
The sat nav behemoth has joined the ranks of post sale in-dash developers with the launch of the 'GO I-90', a double DIN navigation, radio and multimedia unit designed to fit any car.

On the GPS side you'll find a pre-installed map of Western Europe with support for Map Share, safety camera alerts and EPT (Enhanced Positioning Technology) which calculates car speed to deliver uninterrupted navigation in tunnels. On top of this are usual TomTom stalwarts such as hands-free calling via Bluetooth, the Help-Me! emergency menu, USB for handset and MP3 player charging and audio playback and traffic management. One notable exception however is IQ Routes which calculates the fastest journey plan based on historical road speeds at different times of the day.
Given the I-90's double DIN format will also replace your car stereo, it also comes with a radio built in with FM/AM reception, RDS support, a 4x40W amplifier and optional third party steering wheel controls. You will however have to give up your CDs since no slot is included in the unit. Join the 21st century!
The TomTom GO I-90 goes on sale across Europe from December through '12V' specialist retailers. The 599 euro (circa £540) price tag isn't cheap, but can you put a price on convenience... or not having to rub off those little ring marks?

Yeah, I'm struggling to think of any new cars with a standard double-DIN arrangement... You can of course use fascia adapters to convert from a non-standard dash hole, but I've fou... more
