If the satnav and entertainment system in your Volkwagen Scirocco - or a selection of other Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat cars - isn't quite doing it for you maybe Pioneer's NavGate AVIC-F9110BT will. It might not have the snappiest name ever, but the replacement head unit does have some notable features.

The AVIC-9110BT will happily accept CDs and DVDs and can play DivX content from either media on its 5.8in, 800 x 480 pixel display. MPEG-4 video and MP3, WAV or AAC audio can be played from disc or SD card. A separately available dedicated iPod connector cable enables control of Apple players from the head unit, as per similar systems.

Navigation is provided by TeleAtlas maps, which offer 5.5 million miles of road, 1.7 million Points-of-Interest and will display famous landmarks 3D - thrilling stuff. As well as providing voice-guided navigation, the unit will also read out TMC updates and promises "accurate guidance in areas where GPS coverage is compromised."
