The IDEO designed Navman slimline 'S100' is the most portable - and possibly stylish - GPS we've seen to date. Measuring just 13.5mm thick, the S100 is thinner than most smartphones and packs in a super flat 4.3in widescreen which surprisingly has no bevels at all for a super smooth finish.

The reason for this (potentially screen scuffing) decision is to incorporate the S100's second key feature, dubbed 'tap and slide' functionality. Upping the bar from the standard finger-unfriendly stabbing motions required to operate most GPS units, tap and slide means the S100 can be interacted with more like a touchscreen handset with taps registering commands and slides enabling panning of maps, scrolling of menus and so forth.


Not to be left short, the S100 also features SiRF's InstantFix II technology for attaining fast satellite locks, multimedia playback, NavPix photo navigation, routing based on fuel economy, Mio's famed 3D landmarks display and pre-loaded safety camera data which is free for the first 12 months.

The Navman S100 launches in November with a fairly reasonably an RRP of £199. Style conscious motorists and possibly Apple fans, mark your calendars...
