It would be a lot better if you did not have to press anything on the scanner to scan something from your computer.

Mine simply stopped working. LCD light is on but stuck on "current date and time". Won't budge. Tried everything.

Canon i-SENSYS MF4780w Review

Only my opinion: CANON all-in-one scanner is not for professional jobs. It scans only the entire page, without allowing to select the area to be scanned. Although it has many options and functions, they don't help much. My old HP scanner scans everything on its screen but then the software allows to select exactly what I want to scan by cutting out it from the entire page and its simple to use. Not the CANON. This one CANON does not seem to have that functionality. It only scans full page
documents, but if one wants to scan a business card one has to use PAINT or other software to cut the detail out of the entire scan. Also the scan quality is so bad even at 300 dpi I can see the coloured streaks and lines in many locations on the image and when image is reduced it looks horrible with CANON.

Just my opinion. This is why I want to keep on using my old scanner as long
as it works and if it breaks down, I will have to buy a scan-alone scanner. This CANON good as copier only and to scan some unimportant documents. Keep that in mind when your new customer asks for a professional high quality scanner. But it still is ok as a copier and probably a fax as well.

It also has problems restoring date and time settings after a thirdworldly power cut in Portugal. It never saves date and time. I have to re enter everything again and again. Yet after its been in the repairs, it suddenly saves the date and time, I think it does now! At least sometimes! PROGRESS!

Also, about 7 months after purchase my CANON just stopped working. PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE at work.

You know what I did last year? I bought an old typewriter for $20 and have been happy ever since. Never will buy any piece of electronics, battery etc. ever again. Not even a light bulb!
