Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup
The Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup is a modern style kettle — instead of filling a jug with water and boiling the whole thing you just pop your mug underneath the Breville unit and press a button. The Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup then heats up and pours one boiling cup of water. Just one. No wastage, no waiting for a whole kettle to boil for a single cuppa — you just get one super speedy drink.
Because you’re only heating up one cup and you’re using 3000 watts of power to do so, it really takes no time at all to make your drink with the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup. Unlike some other modern kettles the water is genuinely boiling hot when it comes out, just like it would be for a traditional kettle.
With the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup capable of holding 1.5 litres of water at a time, an all-around clear form make it easy to see how much water is remaining in the device at any one time. Whilst you can move the drip tray for times when you want to fill a jug or a taller mug, it is also possible to vary the amount of water that comes out of the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup, so if you only want to fill a teacup you can but if you want to fill a huge mug than that’s fine too.
Proving a bit fiddly to fill the cumbersome water jug, the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup is also very leaky, which isn’t great for a kettle. The main downsides of this modern design device, however, stem from its benefits. If you want to fill a saucepan full of water you have to hold the pan under the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup and keep pressing the button until it’s full. Whilst the Breville VKJ318 Hot Cup is great for just drinking, it’s not so great for cooking with.
