The Final Audio Design Pandora IV is an alternative to the B&W P7 that according to my experience outperforms the P7. I would highly recommend auditioning the Pandora before buying the B&W P7.

Sound with the Pandora IV is immersive (thanks to the super tweeters firing at you from the front of the headphone), comfort is superb and they are beautifully made.

The Final Audio Pandora's are hard to track down (try hifiheadphones in the UK), but well worth the effort.

Just a couple of points re the review. "The cable snakes into a little alcove, and ends in a normal 3.5mm jack", its actually a non-standard 2.5mm jack.

"Other visible parts of the Bowers & Wilkins P7 are either steel or aluminium" the main chassis parts, visible as a chrome ring behind the leather of the ear cups, are plated plastic.

This author compares B&W to Bose and states you are paying for B&W research? Obviously he is a stakeholder in Bose. That's akin to saying 'you're paying the research' when buying a Lamborghini and then comparing it unfavorably to a 1938 VW Beetle.
