The Bosch HBM13B251 is a double door built-in electric oven with a conventional heating element. Despite conventional ovens usually being bad at distributing heat quickly and evenly, this oven manages to do both fairly well so don’t be put off by the reputation of the unit’s heating mechanism.
The oven has two compartments — a large 58 litre bottom compartment and a top 30 litre compartment with a variable grill. This massive amount of space across two oven cavities means several dishes can be cooked at once, even if they require different temperatures. It’s also nice having the grill there as it gives you different cooking options.
The oven has a timer with two programmable functions which can automatically turn the oven on and off at the times you set, which is very handy. Unfortunately, the controls are a bit flimsy and can be a bit hard to grip, as are the temperature dials, which could do with some sort of groove rather than being just rounded. The oven itself is very stylish, however, with a brushed steel finish, large viewing windows in the doors and elegant steel door handles. Inside the oven, the walls and back of the oven have catalytic liners for easy cleaning; they merely require warm soapy water to remove grease and other spillages.
Easy to install the Bosch HBM13B251 has been awarded an A Class energy efficient rating for the main oven and B for the top. Overall, despite a couple of small issues including the control dials and the lack of a handle for the grill pan, this is an excellent oven, with a versatile layout and a fast time to heat up, it will make any meal simple to prepare.
