Developer: Konami

Konami has knocked it out of the park once again with PES 2017, producing one of the greatest games of football ever made, complete with improved visuals, mechanics and game modes. If you're after a football sim in 2016, you can't get much better than this.

The impressive Fox Engine makes a welcome return, bringing an incredible sense of realism to the environments your virtual players sprint about in. The tactics they deploy have also been enhanced, making passing, shooting and planning your next strategy far more rewarding than ever before.

Unfortunately, the online issues that plagued PES 2016 are here to stay, making it difficult to enjoy a series of matches with other PES fanatics without coming across irritating moments of lag. Offline, however, PES 2017 is in another league.

At time of review PES 2017 was available for £39.99.

I'd personally rate "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" up there with the best of the year so far - whether on Xbox One / PS4 or PC - looks & plays pretty great on all three platforms.

can the xone do the sort of irrelevant background detail seen with PS4 driveclub's water sprinkler in the fields moment ? i want to buy one but i want to see that sort of "detail" when playing

Plenty of detail in the Forza series - particularly the weather effects and day/night cycle of Horizon 2 and the soon to be released Forza 6.

There's also the very relevant "detail" of Mr Fenix cutting a locust in two in the imminent Gears of War remake ;-) It all looked and played great in the recent beta.

Just Cause 3 should be No 2. (GTA V is No. 1)

You have to be a real jackass to release exclusive games.
