Key features:

  • 65-inch OLED TV
  • 4K resolution
  • Curved screen
  • Passive 3D playback
The first 4K OLED TV we’ve ever tested, the LG 65EC970V is an outstanding machine. With its gently curved screen, insanely-thin silver-trimmed frame and slender rear, it looks the part too.

Black level response is more-or-less flawless, viewing angles are excellent and there’s no backlight clouding. Colours are excellent too, but it doesn’t upscale HD content particularly well. 3D playback is perhaps the best we’ve ever come across on a TV, and it’s just about responsive enough to be used for gaming purposes.

The speakers deliver startlingly high volume levels and the soundstage spreads quite widely without becoming incoherent. There isn’t much bass to underpin things, however, leaving action scenes sounding a bit thin.

Price: £5,999
