- 65-inch LCD TV
- 4K resolution
- Curved screen
- 4.2-channel multi-angle sound system
Taking a completely different design approach to the Samsung UE65HU7500, Sony’s KD-65S9005B
is a weird-looking thing that’s more interesting than attractive. Its 65-inch, 4K LCD panel is subtly curved and surrounded by a chunky frame, featuring odd strips of light at each edge.
You’ll have to tinker with settings to get the picture right, but picture quality is ultimately a mixed bag. While black levels are good, there’s prominent backlight clouding, and the curve only slightly enhances the image’s sense of depth. However, colours explode off the screen, and HD content scales up very nicely indeed. Viewing angles are good too, but 3D playback suffers from crosstalk. Low input lag means it’s good for gaming.
Sound quality is far better than what you’ll find on many rival TVs. The special multi-angle speaker system delivers a wide soundstage that gives the sense of surround sound. It can also produce massive distortion-free volumes to go with its width and scale, and the mid-range sounds open, clean, and able to expand to meet the demands of action scenes. Price:
