Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Originally reviewed by 09 July 2014

Best Android Tablet Overall

Key features:
  • 8.4-inch Super AMOLED screen
  • 16GB storage
  • MicroSD slot
Currently the best of the Android bunch, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has one of the best screens we've seen on a tablet, an impressive battery life all packed into slim, portable design. Aside from the video-friendly 2,560 x 1,600 display, it has an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 processor and 3GB RAM to drive performance with 16GB of on board storage, which is backed up by a MicroSD card slot.

Samsung's approach to Android is much cleaner and user-friendly than it has been on previous tablets in the Galaxy Tab family and also adds the new Magazine UX, though we're are not massive fans of that. Similarly, the fingerprint scanner included on the Galaxy S5 is is not as useful as it is on the phone, but those are minor criticisms of an otherwise great iPad Mini 2 alternative.
