Apple iPod Classic 80GB

Originally reviewed by Jonathan Bray 03 October 2007

Called "Classic" for a reason, this is the great grandson of the MP3 player that made the MP3 player market what it is today. In some ways it's out-of-sync with many gadget trends, lacking a large display, touchscreen and an app store. But we love it. Given its large 160GB storage, the iPod Classic is fairly small, and the Apple music nav interface is as great as ever. If you want a device for music and nothing else, it's a clear winner. There's no FLAC support, no radio and limited sound customisation, though.

Why would anyone buy an mp3 player these days? Why not use your smartphone? Well, because the sound from the Cowon, Sony and Sandisk products is far superior. A point that was totally ignored in the reviews in favour of ability to play games. Imbecilic!!
