If Windows 7 is your OS of choice or you want a little more connectivity than Apple's Macbook Air can provide, this 13.3in aluminium-clad ultraportable is bargain since it has dropped from a launch price of over £1,300 to under £1,000. It offers an outstanding screen, backlit keyboard and simply lovely touchpad packed into a rugged black brushed-aluminium shell less than 9mm thick. However, it doesn't compromise on performance, sporting a Sandy Bridge Core i5 processor and a fast 128GB SSD. The connections it manages to cram into its svelte sides are also impressive, with a memory card reader, HDMI port, Ethernet port and USB 3.0 providing a comprehensive line-up.
