Grado's top-end PS series has a new "affordable" option. Ok, so £700 isn't exactly cheap, but they provide sound quality comparable to the £2000 PS1000 model. If you're looking for a top-end at-home set, headphones don't get much better than this. There are a couple of drawbacks - the foam pads feel a little scratchy and they're not as comfortable as some. But, boy, do they sound good.
