Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

Originally reviewed by 27 November 2013

Best Android tablet for sound quality

Key features:
  • 8.9-inch 2,560 x 1,600 pixel IPS screen
  • Snapdragon 800 CPU
  • Fire OS
Few tablets really focus on providing good audio quality. Like phones, it’s something neglected in favour of screen quality and processor speed even though many of us use our tablet speakers all the time.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has stereo speakers on its rear, and they are beefier-sounding than much of the competition. Having stereo is important too, making movies much more enjoyable. In other respects the HDX 8.9 is pretty solid as well. With 2,560 x 1,600 screen resolution and a powerful Snapdragon 800 CPU, there’s not much to hold the tablet back.

We say ‘not much’ because the Fire HDX 8.9 uses Fire OS, which is a bit more restrictive than standard Android. Check out the full review for more.
