Best Android Tablet for Kids

Key features:
  • 7-inch, Full HD IPS display
  • Great Mayday tech support feature
  • Kindle FreeTime great for providing peace of mind to parents
  • Runs on a custom version of Android Jelly Bean
  • 16/32/64GB versions available - non-expandable
If you can live with the lack of Google Play access and some slight screen issues, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 is a great 7-inch Android tablet alternative to the Nexus 7 2. Slimmer and lighter than last year’s Kindle Fire, the HDX 7 features a nice, bright 1,920 x 1,200 resolution screen. It still runs on an unrecognizable version of Android that in its latest iteration actually makes the HDX 7 a really easy to use tablet. There’s the new Mayday feature answering calls in under 15 seconds for anything you can’t work out and the dual stereo speakers offer the kind of rich, full sound that puts other tablets to shame. The key, though, is the size, price and excellent Kindle integration make it a great upgrade from an ebook reader. On top of that you get Kindle FreeTime. This lets you lock the tablet down for children so they only have access to the features and apps you want them to. You can even limit the amount of time they can use the tablet for.
