Best 8-inch Tablet for Content: iPad mini 2 Retina

Key features:
  • More portable than the Air
  • Comes with free iWork apps
  • Plenty of storage including iCloud support
If you prefer something smaller, then you can always go for the smaller Apple tablet. You get all of the same qualities as the full sized iPad just in a more bag-friendly body. You can opt for a Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 4G option if you want to be connected outside of the classroom and best of all it lasts for up to 10 hours of constant use on just a single charge. It runs on the same 64-bit A7 CPU found inside the iPhone 5S and has a quad-core GPU to handle intense iPad games like Infinity Blade 3 when you need to take a break from the studies. It's more expensive than the last mini but the design and screen are great and the performance is till blistering making it well worth the money.

Buy Now at Amazon.co.uk from £274 | Amazon.com from $345 (newer model)

At time of review the iPad mini 2 was available from £319.
