Been playing this recently on PC and completely agree with almost everything in this review.

When I first heard about the naval aspects I hated the thought and didn't expect much, but then the first naval mission completely changed my perspective by actually being great fun and the controls are perfectly balanced.

The one part I disagree with is the opening "prologue" section; while it does last longer than normal, I wasn't thinking "this is going on for ages", instead it was "wow, this game is going to last a good long time, I've not even finished the prologue yet!". That and the twist at the end of the prologue was a completely unexpected "say WHAT?" moment for me!

I agree. The prologue was a pleasant surprise.
Of the first 3 games I played what is weaker is the Boston/American revolution setting. Cannot really compare with the first setting or Italy's Renaissance. But the overall gaming experience, graphics improved and is not repetitive as the first game.
