We knew the name of the 'iPod touch' before release and now it looks like the official name from the 3G iPhone has leaked out as well...

Late last night AT&T updated its online device database and low and behold users can now choose from two different iPhone models: the iPhone and the 'iPhone Black'. AppleInsider has nabbed the screen grabs to show this and given the long rumoured black finish expected on the feverishly anticipated handset this would all tie-in very nicely.

Also causing our hands to rub together in a world-domination-type-way is a quote from TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) president Luigi Licciardi in an interview in which he stated "We sell the iPhone 3G next month" - don't get much more categorical than that!

So with the Apple Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) kicking off in San Francisco on 9 June and Steve Jobs set to take the stage and announce his company's latest and (hopefully) greatest innovations we may just know what will be coming out of his mouth...

Update: AT&T's already denying this saying "The reference to 'iPhone Black' was simply a temporary placeholder used over the weekend for a scheduled catalog update. It was meant to temporarily distinguish the various iPhone models-4GB, 8GB and 16GB-but was never reassigned. We're changing the site now."

Personally I'm not buying this. How a 'Black' reference distinguishes between three silver handsets is beyond me. Cat's out the bag, 'iPhone Black' it is - I'm (pretty) sure of it...
