I've had one of these since January. I can see the criticism if you were to use it outside the home. It is on the heavy side and you would always want the keyboard with you, so portability isn't it's strong suit. But, the reviewer forgot to mention that there is a cover that comes with the W700 that folds to into position to make a stand. This is handy for portable use, but obviously not as good as say the Surface with the keyboard in the cover.

If the use is primarily for the home, I think all the complaints about the dock and the weight fall to the background. Only after using it for a continuous hour or so, do I think about the weight. This is a good choice for home use, and because its got full fat Win8, we use it as our only computer now. And after a couple months, I can say its does the job. The dock sits on a bookshelf and gets used as charging station primarily, but the whole set up, is good for occasional word processing, etc.

Also, did you load the wifi patch that was published a few months ago? It helps...

My biggest concern is that Acer has been less than honest about the fact that they are throttling the i5. This is more a matter of principle, as for our use, we don't push it that hard. But, I'd really like to see Acer come clean and fix the issue.

Yet another near success. Thanks for your review which paints a picture of an item not worthy of its price. Really only a fool would purchase this cheap item that doesn't even allow the use of a digital pen. Pass!

Why would Acer admit they released a product that should have been throttled at its inception? If they gave this away at the door of my local BestBuy I would pass.

I was looking for something nice to replace my laptop and yes it works for me. I use it at home
and once in a while travel with it. Yes its on the heavy side of the tablets but heeey look at its functionalities to me the pros out weigh the cons especially if you are not always travelling. Its a good machine

Don't ever buy this table... it totally sucks !!! from last one year I am using this tablet... finding lots of problem with this table. Battery life is not very good, table is heavy not very comfortable for continuous use, in desktop mode the icons are so small that it's very difficult work without connecting the mouse. In table some of the sites, videos don't open even some times youtube won't open you need to open in desktop mode. The UK version comes with attached keyboarb you can't remove that even if you don'r want to use it you have to keep carrying adds an extra weight.. One of the worst problem I am finding with my tablet is its very very slow when charger pin is removed and even sometimes switch offs when power chord is removed...its totally bull shit...already sent it to repair...I paid around 900 euros it is totally waste of money it is neither a good tablet nor a proper sincere suggestion please don't buy this...its simply throwing your money in a well...

Santosh, there's a setting in the advanced power settings called "intel low power mode" or something like that. What it does it underclocks your CPU to 800Mhz and uses only 1 logical core (of 4). If you turn it off you can enjoy maximum speed of your Tablet both on battery and AC. I really recommend turning it off. It's way too slow to do anything other than displaying desktop and maybe playing music...

I have just purchased the Acer W700 tablet and have been using it for over a week now, my first impressions I must say is, this is best windows 8 tablet I have used to date, I'm sure Surface pro 3 is as good if not better. I have had the Surface Pro version 1 which I had to replace about 7-8 times due to screen and electric shock issues! Dell Venue 11 pro DON'T even buy one of these I had problem's as soon as I turned the thing on! slow plus poor build quality. Getting back to the Acer W700 the tablet is solid in performance and build quality and battery life, for a 3rd Gen I5 it provides at least 5-6 hours on battery. You get the keyboard/cover, Micro HDMI to VGA adapter in the box which is great. I FULLY recommend this tablet I don't understand the average reviews given. Plus I think 11.6" screen is the perfect size for productivity and media consumption, 10.6" is to small.

Yes, there is no permanent keyboard. But i do agree that the icon is so small and we need to use mouse anyway. I understand that this is due to FULL HD resolution that make the icon so small. It is great when watching full hd movies on this tablet .But it requires mouse. I don't recommend this tablet to anyone who want to replace his laptop. As movie entertainment , you can lie on this tablet. It is great tablet.

It just like a PC without permanent keyboard and mouse. I relies on the touch screen.

Ever heard of DPI scaling? ;D
Yes, I do realize I'm replying to a dead thread, but seriously, you guys are funny. All the Santosh's complaints come from him being unable to use Windows properly.
