A well-built and reasonably quiet PC with an aggressive but stable overclock to bring its Intel Core i5 CPU up to 4GHz, the Wired2Fire Hellspawn certainly impresses, and if you want an all-round system with good gaming credentials it's a decent choice. The only real fly in the ointment is that its motherboard doesn't properly support CrossFire, limiting future upgrade potential.Read full review
I bought the dino i7 last month, and im afraid to say that is also has the same motherboard- crossfire is only supported in x16/x4! This is not made clear on dinopc's website. Please trusted reviews, check your info when reviewing products as your review for the dinopc stated that x8/x8 mode was supported. Unfortunately i had to drop a grand on their product to find this was the case...
In fact it doesn't use the same motherboard; you can see the difference in the heatsink and slots if you look carefully. The Dino PC uses the Asus P7P55D, while the Wired2Fire uses the Asus P7P55D-LE.
Unfortunately you are right about it only supporting 16x/4x despite its somewhat misleading claimed support for CrossFire. I do apologize for not picking up on this when I reviewed the PC.
To be honest it wouldn't have made any difference to the verdict as the 5870 is a much more powerful card to begin with so you're less likely to need to upgrade it. It also uses far more electricity and is noisier, so frankly is not the most attractive CrossFire proposition. The price is also still excellent value for what you're getting.
I will of course add an addendum to clarify this to the DinoPC review. Also, could you add a comment on how you have found the company's customer service?
Thank you Trusted Reviews for responding to my earlier message. With regard to DinoPc customer service, I can honestly say that I had no issues with them at all. I spoke to them on a few occasions both via email and telephone. They answered the phone promtly, replied quickly to my emails and answered all of my questions. The pc turned up on time and was set up with all drivers installed, and the pc build was neat and tidy. Could'nt really have asked for more.
