Good review - this seems to be a really interesting competitor to the QNAPs, maybe even a better one.

According to the website it has:

@damole - considering the 15 months that have passed since Dave reviewed this unit, clearly Synology has uprated the specification. Nothing unusual about that, over a year later.

You have also linked to the DS-209 spec when we reviewed the DS-209+. Indeed, these days the 2010 range includes a DS-209+II http://www.synology.com/enu/products/DS209+II/index.php

It may be small but the Disk Station DS-209+ is undeniably fast. For a diskless appliance it's a little pricey but the sleek new Disk Station Manager Web interface and the remarkable number of features on offer more than make up for this.
